ABOUT 'RUBCO DECKING'

RUBCO DECKING is made from a wood plastic composite decking product (WPC).

WPC is made from wood fibre and recycled HDPE plastic (milk bottles)

This product originated in the USA about fifteen years ago to offer an environmentally acceptable alternative to hardwood (rainforest) timbers. In using RUBCO DECKING you are helping to protect forest and eco systems from destruction and helping to protect forest communities. In using this system you are helping to discourage illegally logged and traded timber

Its popularity has since grown rapidly in the USA and also worldwide.

Comes pre-colored in "Red Brown", "Mid Brown" or "Mid Grey" - no staining is required. Our unique WPC formulation includes antioxidant and UV stabilizers to give the, best possible protection against fading.
RUBCO DECKING slip resistance is similar to timber decking.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Cleaning - Keep it clean and your RUBCO DECKING with reward you with years of maintenance free pleasure.
General cleaning with a broom or mop will suffice for most situations, however if damp leaves are allowed to build up mould or mildew may develop. This can be treated with diluted "sugar soap" following the manufacturers instructions

NOTE When first installed there is a 3 month period were there maybe some water marking texture colour changes. This will eventually recede and the product will settle and stabilize.

RUBCO DECKING, like wood, is susceptible to stains from BBQ grease, oil, and the tannin in some vegetation. Best results are achieved if the stain is treated immediately with absorbent cloths then cleaning with a dilute solution of sugar soap and warm water. Follow up with a light sand using 80 —100 grit sandpaper, following the grain of the material. The colour and texture changes which occur after this will recede with weathering
Protecting - We suggest a mat under your BBQ to protect from grease stains, and plastic protectors under metal furniture or planters to prevent gouging and potential rust stains.

Avoid dragging heavy items over the deck, as it will scratch. Scratches can be dealt with by giving a very light sand, following the grain of the material as described above.

Testing - Test any treatment, cleaning products or sanding on a spare or obscured piece of decking to check for changes first.
